Yay for libraries!!!

I 100% want to help her get some merch. I would be happy to send her one of the small posters from this exhibition (A4 size, in the second to last pic here, I still have the extras I grabbed) along with a handful of blank post-it notes (two different designs)! Not sure if they would arrive before Xmas or not, depending on where you guys live, but I can give it a shot if you want. Ill pay postage, as just a flat item in the mail will be pretty affordable and Im more than happy to do it for a Yotsuba-loving girl – whose adoration for the series should definitely be encouraged and nurtured! :) (Or as Le Guin puts it: “encourage[d] to grow freely, to flourish like the green bay tree, by giving it the best, absolutely the best and purest, nourishment that it can absorb”.)

If youre comfortable giving your address, shoot me an email or Twitter DM and I can send em out next week! (Alternatively, if youre from the US, your local post office might be able to accept General Delivery aka hold the package for pick-up). Or even better, if youre still in Japan for a while longer, and have a hotel that will allow it (most do), I can send it domestically which should only take 1–2 weekdays for delivery. Let me know!

Hi! Thank you so much! She would take any merch at this point. lol

I’m not versed in this art form (manga or anime) so your description really helped! We have gone to the Kotobukiya and no luck. But we will keep trying! Nakano Broadway is a good tip but far from where we are staying and the plans we have made so we will have to see if we can squeeze it in!

She found the series through her school library. They had one or two books and she was hooked. She got the series for Christmas last year and reads them over and over. I hope we can find something for her to take home!

Hi! Awww, so happy to hear she loves it, a girl after my own heart! She has good taste :)

Japan is big on pumping out tons of anime merch but not so much when it comes to manga-focused stuff, sadly, and especially not for long-running series like this (unless its an influential series from the past that has since stopped serialization or publication and has that old/retro feel & factor, perhaps…) And there havent been any recent tankobon volume releases or anything either which makes it even harder in this case. Did some searching for you though – Im not big on figures personally, but apparently people have had luck finding those at Kotobukiya stores, if it helps!

Generally, Akiba is good for all the large brands and highly-marketed, newest, flashy, seasonal stuff, but Id recommend you check out the many shops around Nakano Broadway which typically have more secondhand (but in very good condition) & more “obscure” stuff. Might be fun to browse around either way, and its just a nice area generally, too! Hope she + you both have a blast! And thank you for the comment (happy I saw this so quickly!) :>

Love the article. My 9 yr old daughter loves this series so much. We are Currently in Tokyo and I can’t find Yotsuba merch anywhere! We’ve been to almost every store in Akihabara and nothing. Do you have any leads? I’ve seen the Twitter account. I may have to go through Amazon. Any tips or leads would be great!

No worries, glad you enjoyed! Not sure if there’s one at the moment, but I don’t think so… the latest one (which I also luckily got to go to!) was in Yokohama back in July/August. They announce & tweet about them at https://twitter.com/428and_tweet!

I’m going to visit Japan (Tokyo – Osaka) this November … do you happen to know when or where the next exhibition of Kiyohiko Azuma’s work?
thanks, Finny.
